This is an excellent project headed by Dr. Doug Tallamy aimed at recreating biodiversity in both urban and rural areas. Millions of acres of land are resigned to monoculture turfgrass (lawns). This program encourages the planting of "keystone species" that have the greatest positive ecological impact for local wildlife. Use of these native keystone plants will attract and support beneficial insects, songbirds, pollinators, etc. By adding small areas to the map one by one, you can start to turn a neighborhood into an ecosystem.
